Simply stated, the Truecrypt source code has been and continues to be under an exhaustive audit to find any problems and, to date, has found none. The only thing that I do want to take issue with, and only a little, is the comment Truecrypt may still be perfectly trustworthy software. ![]() The Truecrypt code is out there, open for review and audit (still) while these other products that we're expected to blindly trust are not. I hate to sound like the tin-foil-hat, black helicopter conspiracy theorist here but that's the reality. ![]() We're just expected to blindly accept that it's secure. I understand the concern with Truecrypt but the reality is that I doubt Symantec, Jetico and especially Microsoft would give open access to the source of their encryption technology to the community to let confirm that it's secure. ![]() The only thing that I do want to take issue with, and only a little, is the comment Truecrypt may still be perfectly trustworthy software. ![]() You make some very good points and, though I'll pass on the Symantec option, will be very curious to hear your thoughts on Bestcrypt moving forward.
